About Us

Founded in July 2001, Viable Technologies (VTI) specializes in remote realtime transcription for the educational setting. Using specialized transcribers who listen to the spoken words and produce text using state of the art technology, we help students with hearing loss access the spoken word in realtime.

It is our philosophy to help high schools, colleges, and universities provide the best accommodations possible for students with hearing loss even if it means recommending a service offered by someone else. We make the effort to interview students and counselors to understand their needs better.

Our staff at VTI understands the needs of students with hearing loss because we interact with people who have hearing loss everyday. In fact, some of us can relate because we experience the same frustrations ourselves. This is why we put all of our time and energy into making sure that students will benefit the most from our services.

We at VTI believe that our services are of the highest quality even though our transcribers are not on-site. Using high quality audio equipment, we ensure that our transcribers have equal or better access to sounds in the classroom than on-site transcribers. This enables us to have more flexibility in order to match transcribers according to their subject matter expertise resulting in a higher quality transcription.
